# SBS SOAT, CAT and Vehicle Insurance Report
> Look up a Peruvian plate's SOAT, CAT and vehicle insurance records from the SBS: accidents in five years and every policy with insurer, dates and status.
Reports a vehicle plate's insurance record from SBS (Superintendencia de Banca,
Seguros y AFP), Peru's banking and insurance regulator, across its three reports:
SOAT (mandatory traffic-accident insurance), CAT (the certificate AFOCATs issue to
public transport vehicles) and Seguro Vehicular (private vehicle insurance). For
each one it returns the siniestralidad (accidents covered in the last 5 years) and
every policy or certificate on record: issuer, vehicle class and use, accidents,
policy and certificate numbers, coverage window, status, and any annulment or
rectification. SOAT and CAT also list what they cover. One lookup, by plate.

## Response
One lookup answers three reports for the plate: SOAT at the top level, then `vehicle_insurance` and `cat`.

| `has_active_soat` | `true` when a SOAT policy is currently in force (VIGENTE). |

| `policies[]` | SOAT policy history, newest first. Empty when the plate has no record. |
| `coverages[]` | What SOAT covers and up to how much (`coverage`, `amount`, in UIT). |
| `vehicle_insurance` | The private vehicle insurance (Seguro Vehicular) report: `found`, `report_date`, `data_through`, `accident_count`, `count`, `has_active_policy`, `active` and `policies[]`. |
| `cat` | The CAT report: `found`, `report_date`, `data_through`, `accident_count`, `count`, `has_active_cat`, `active`, `certificates[]` and `coverages[]`. |
Each SOAT or vehicle insurance policy has `company`, `vehicle_class`,
`vehicle_use`, `accident_count`, `policy_number`, `certificate_number`,
`start_date` and `end_date` (`yyyy-mm-dd` when parseable), `status`
(`VIGENTE` / `VENCIDA` / `ANULADA`), `annulled_date`, `annulment_reason` (for
example `falta de pago`), `rectified_date` and `comment`. A CAT certificate has
the same fields except `policy_number`, and `company` is the issuing AFOCAT.

SOAT is Peru's mandatory traffic-accident insurance. CAT (Certificado contra
Accidentes de Tránsito) replaces it for public transport vehicles in some
provinces and is issued by AFOCATs, regional funds; CAT data starts in 2022.
Seguro Vehicular is the private insurance a driver buys on top. Each report
has its own `accident_count`: the accidents covered under it in the last five
years. `found: false` inside a report means the plate has nothing on record
for that report.
This lookup can take longer than a typical request. It is an
[async job](/async-jobs). By default the request waits inline and returns
`{ data }`, or you can poll / use a `callback_url`.
